Catholic.
But liberal.
So I go to church, but I disagree with many of the things I "learn" there. -

Array Baptized catholic, parents converted to unitarianism, I'm currently a middle of the road methodist. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Array Half of my family was/is Catholic, half Protestant in assorted flavors. ^Insert familial Holy War here.^
I've done some shopping over the years, tried out the Lutheran thing for awhile, had lengthy theological discussions with assorted people of the cloth - enough to see if I'd be branded a heretic if I believe XYZ... Sort of agnostic/borderline pagan now. Organized religions don't suit everyone. <shrug> Guess I'll be going to hell or something. But I do try to be a good and moral person. -

Array My parents are United Methodist. I'm agnostic. I've had alot of direct and indirect experience with power struggles in the Church and have a hard time rectifying my secular beliefs with much of the tripe they are spewing. I still attend church regularly because my mommie would be very upset if I didn't. I love my mommie very much and one Sunday a week isn't too much of a sacrifice... The UM churches I've been to don't seem to attract the freak shows of the more evangelical denominations. It's much more like a community of people, as are quite a few churches, I suspect.
My dad is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist church as well as ministering 2 churches. Shhhhhhhhh!!!!! Don't tell ZZ "Since when does being a patriot in America mean shutting your mouth?"

Array Reform Judaism. When I was little my family went to a conservative synagogue, but then we switched over to a reform one. My dad was raised conservative. My mother is Catholic (and still is). My brother and I were raised (and still are) Jewish. -

There might be life out there.. smarter than humans. But they didnt create me. Nope... I don't believe in any form of god. That makes me an atheist. -

And I probably do know myself a lot better than anyone else... but that applies to anyone. Some people really don't know themselves that well. There's actually quite a bit of "filtering" that goes on inside of us. Sometimes what pops out of the hopper is considerably different than what we put in. In addition, many people (myself included) have "prejudged" themselves and are rather surprised with themselves when it comes to reacting to certain situations, good or bad. Array c-a-t-h-o-l-i-c holy god. its absolutely insane how up through highschool there was no way to even forget i am catholic. well, raised catholic and forced to be catholic anyway. did the whole sunday school thing up until middle school, then it was catholic middle and high school from there...church every sunday...blah blah blah.
i still find it funny since most foil tournaments are on sundays, that if i'm home that weekend of the tournament, my mum makes me go to church saturday night since i wont be there sunday. funny how she doesnt change... "I have an excellent idea! Let's change the subject." March Hare -

Array Half of my family was hard-core Mormons, the other half was not-very-devout Methodists. After studying various religions and belief systems I decided that it is most likely that there is nothing "out there". So until something can change my mind, I am a devout atheist. I worship science. Everybody has to believe in something. I believe I am going to have another beer. -

Array I was raised Episcopalian.
The first church i went to put a convicted child molestor in charge of children's services--- everyone knew... but no one (other than the priest) could change it. so we left.
the second church was wonderful for a long time, and then the priest retired, and the new priest did a lot of messed up stuff and drove out everyone who was a die hard, including the entire choir. so we left.
So my entire family (who used to be an "every-week-even-during-the-summer" kind of group) is now a "we'll think about going on christmas eve... and then forget" by the time i was 13.
From personal searching:
I love cultural Judaism. I think I could buy reform religious Judaism, especially if I had a reason to (namely, a spouse. or if i was born into it.)
I like the liberalish Quakers. An interesting experience. Not one i'm interested in every week though.
My beliefs most closely resemble that of the Unitarian Universalists--- I strongly believe in pluralism, that everyone on the road to good will get there if they're a moral person, that there's something in the universe that tends towards order, and that there's more than one way to perceive it...... etc etc. But the actual church itself seems a little unorganized and vague....
I'm probably Buddhist, from my belief structure and such..... but what i hate more than almost anything else is people who learn about Buddhism in high school and then consider themselves Buddhist without actually being Buddhist at all.
so i feel that i "tend towards Buddhism," but that i'm not actually Buddhist. -

Reform Jew/Atheist
I used to call myself a Jewish agnostic, thinking atheist a too extreme term, before giving the matter some more thought. A person who believes in God, but can't prove that God exists and despite his claims can't really know that God exists, is called a Jew or Christian or Muslim or whatever, not an agnostic. So someone (like me) who does not believe in God, but can't prove he doesn't exist and can't say he knows God doesn't exist is an atheist, as opposed to an agnostic. -

Array Raised Roman Catholic, heading towards Quaker (Religious Society of Friends). I still attend Mass with my mom when I visit her (she gave me life, it's the least favor I can return). My wife was raised Episcopalian but rarely attends any more. Son vaguely Buddhist, daughter rampantly atheist. Both wonderful people.
I too believe there are many rivers leading to the same sea, and yours is fine by me. And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?
