WWII - seeing I am female the only real avenue which would have been open to me was nursing, which I probably would have done....I always have been a career girl as opposed to a marriage girl.

Now? I always hankered after the Navy (having come from a long line of merchant marines, and master mariners), but never applied as I dont take orders very well.....Was tempted to join the reserves at one stage but didnt for various reasons.
