Array Any news about Donovan Holtz's blackcard? Since his mask hit a spectator, I would have thought he'd be black carded, but apparently not. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. From what I heard, Gerrie was the director. Don't let 'em drop it. Don'tlet'emdropit. Stop it... bebop it.

Array It certainly wasn't for his conduct, but one of our Y12MF fencers thought he was through during his pool and disappeared. He couldn't be found before the third call and received a Black Card for failure to appear on the strip. I think that was Saturday morning but I wasn't there yet.
Yes, we talked to the kids before the tournament. Yes, he knows he was supposed to sign the sheet before leaving. Embarrassing for him and the club, but it won't happen again. He very likely would had done better than the 66th place that now shows "fencer excluded" too. He came with his grandparents (who didn't know anything about fencing) so we should have been watching more carefully.

From what I heard, Gerrie was the director. He threw his mask, it hit a spectator, he left the carpet area, shouted obscenities and kicked over some chairs, and yes, Gerrie was the director. It seems to me like it should be a black card. If Gerrie didn't give him a black card, I respect her decision, even though I don't agree with it. I'm not a ref though, so I might not understand some decisions made on that level. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Gerrie did give the black card, and it was deserved.

Yeah, I was watching the pool Donovan was in.
He was at the end of the strip, went off the side after a fleche, and lost the bout on that touch(off the end of the strip after the meter was applied).
He lost it, spiked the mask, Gerrie rang him up with the black card. (Spike a mask=black card...doesn't have to hit a spectator). The chairs were after the fact, on the way out the door...
Donovan came back after he regained control and (I'm assuming) apologized to Gerrie for losing it. Similar Threads -
