Array Very Important Question. PLEASE Respond. Zelda & I have been reviewing the story we call Arconia. We miss it. We miss the magic. What we had was brilliant. We want it back.
A lot of feelings have been hurt in the past. The Seven have splintered. Our vision has faded, it seems. And we can't even get together to get this beautiful creation of ours out to the public.
The question is this: What must we do to get back what we have lost? What words must be spoken? What deeds must be done? How can we reclaim the magic that was Arconia, to see it through to the end?
Please, if you are a writer here, respond to this thread.
I totally agree with Moonitic here. We had something really special. I really want to get it back. So from the Queens to everyone, what do we need to do to get the magic back?

Array I'm up for it, always have been. I was sad to see it fade in the first place. We need to revise the plot line, get somthine more easily expandable and the "rights" held by everyone in the Seven. The Russic are cool, but they are Sword's and for the rest of us to exand upon the topic was near impossible because:
A) It was already created with little expanding to do.
B) We didn't know who the russic were, it's taking them such a long time to get to Arconia, we can't put a face to the name, we don't have a true villain.
C) In order to do anything with the russic we had to go through Swordsman, because they are his. Not that this shouldn't have been done, but again, the Russic are not shared by everyone in The Seven, they're Swordsman's creations.
I think we need something that can be shared by all of us. Some central theme that all the seperate parts, people, and cultures we create can interract with. We're all responsible writers and we're not going to be writing irresponsible things. Think of it like a circle, the center of the circle is shared by every writer who participates but different sections of the circle (in this case seven) are all seperate but share the center and can interact with it freely.
Of course, we can interract with eachother just like always but that requires more communication to ensure no stepping on toes. I'm talking about a centeral idea shared by all where we don't have to go through anyone to add or expand it. There is no ringleader, we're all equal....

Array Jed you have hit it on the head. We need to become a circle and communitcate. Kind of like a wheel. The central hub is the main idea, everyone one of us is a spoke. We have ideas taht are related to the central idea, but they are all independent, but at the end they fit together like the rim of a wheel. Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls! -

Array Within the idea of the Russic invasion, I had thoughts on what to do with Moon & the unborn king-to-be that I touched upon in her dream. Perhaps we could use the invasion as the main theme, but have different events within that framework that will allow us to do as Darion suggested. Array Crin and I (mostly Crin ;-)) would like to put forth a plot proposal to The Seven.
After some discussion, we have decided that the Russic invasion should be postponed or canceled because of several reasons:
1.) The shear magnitude of the plot is too big for us to handle, at least for the time being. We need something a bit smaller but still big enough for all of us to have input into.
2.) The Russic, as I have pointed out in a previous post, isn’t a free idea that any of us can add to as we wish. Coming from a different perspective: We wouldn’t want to take a race that Brandon created in a completely different direction than what he intended.
3.) A “free idea” would improve participation and make the movement of the main plot far easier.
So in light of this, we’d like to echo Swordsman’s suggestion and propose that we go back to the tournament, where many of us (including myself) started. From there we can take it wherever we wish, however, as I’ve stated earlier preferably not the Russic War.
We’ve also thought up a possible plot alternative, considering if we do go back to the tournament the weakened state of Arconia. The future King is being decided by a tournament, the government is fragmented and Queen Zelda is in charge. There is a country on the northern continent (name?) that is seeking trade rights to Arconia. This country has an interesting social structure in which women do not play a very prominent role in society. They are looked down upon, even subjugated.
When you take this into account, when they visit Arconia seeking trade rights, not only do they see the country in chaos, but they refuse to deal with Zelda as head of state. Because of this they (might) launch a military campaign or raids into Arconia seeing it as vulnerable.
Keep in mind all of this is tentative and only a suggestion. It is however, better than nothing and something like this would be very subject to change as we see fit. It would be owned by no one and no permission would have to be given before adjusting or changing the plot.
Please reply with your thoughts. "We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to understand." Hebrews 5:11 -

Array Just stating that I'm with Jed on this one--I think we should head back to the tournament. Don't look at like we gave up all that time writing, yet that we explored a possiblity, found too many faults, and are looking at seeing what's behind Door #2. I've got a theory. It could be bunnies.

Array I really don't want to go back to the tournament. A LOT of character development happened after that, leading up to & including the wedding. I'm not up for destroying that & starting over. So, excuse the emotionalism in it, but count me out. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array Ok, I can totally understand Moonitics point of view. I would say we can probably still work the explosion, and marriage in...I mean alot of what that was wasnt really Russic related, and if it was, we can instead maybe have a trade delegation playing dirty. The big meeting, which was russic related could probably be changed to a huge trade meeting or something. We can still do the trip to Muu, the confrontations and teh wedding. After that I am not sure....but I agree with teh character development thing....we did do alot of growing up until the wedding. Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls! -

Array "The question is this: What must we do to get back what we have lost? What words must be spoken? What deeds must be done? How can we reclaim the magic that was Arconia, to see it through to the end?"
Is there anyway to keep the characterization done while also dropping the Russic?

Array More Brain meanderings......
Lets just say HYPOTETICALLY we keep things as they are.....
Here are some suggestions....
1.We take the story from where it is and move on. The groups can all make an independent decision to turn back....and somehow meet together. The russic can be a shadowy threat, not immenent but hanging there.....the what if maybes....Or we can take it from where we split up, and decide its a silly idea and head home from there.
2. Once we get home Zelda can arrive to a trade problem that Moon and Latenight dont know how to handle.
3. Moonitics dream of the evil priest as a threat to their future can be tied in...Moon has ideas for that.
4. We can keep both the Russic and trade ideas. But as I said have the Russic as a hovering threat, no one is sure if/when they come, and anything bad taht happens everyone immeadiately wonders if it means they are about to aattack.
5.We could still continue with others' ideas, but also plan for the possibility of an invasion.
Now please note: disclaimer:these are ideas, free for people to bounce off or use as they see fit it is NOT my suggestion of a plot line or anything. Its an idea to get us up and going again with the least amount of grief and loss of writing. Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls! -

Array Ok, there have been some questions about my dream thread....
The trip DID happen. I just basically skipped the getting home part. So everything that happened BEFORE that is still valid. Zelda is having troubles with things brain wise remember....flash backs and stuff. This is all part of her inability at this point in time to differenciate reality and fiction. Array First, I am insanely short of free time. Hopefully, however, this will change after finals. Aside from that, however...
Regarding the plot: I recognize that the Russic story is rather problematic; that's why I tried to kill it a year and a half ago, at the beginning of the civil war which led to Arcon's exile. It is too focused on things I already have figured out, and it's too big a project for what we can handle right now. If there's another movement to shelve the story, then count me in by all means.
In my personal opinion, I think we should roll back to around the tournament. That is when several characters disappeared entirely, as well as when several other characters appeared shortly and then disappeared again - something that would be best to trim out. I also agree, however, that there has been some excellent writing and character development since, and would hate to lose it. I think we should keep copies of it (not hard to back up) to patch the good parts back in as we re-write. That way we go back to where things started to turn foul, but also keep the good parts.
Regarding The Seven: I'm sick of the drama. Period. I realize that I am the cause of some problems and a contributing factor in many of them. This is a definite fault of mine which I have been, and continue to be, working on. However. In no case have I been the only person at fault. In no case have I been completely at fault. I will readily apologize for my faults and shortcomings, but I expect the same in return from others who are at fault. I am sick of all the times I've heard "this is the last time". And I'm sick of being told, every time I try to say anything in my defense, "there you go again, refusing to admit you've done anything wrong." I've admitted to plenty, and I've apologized for plenty. But I'm not the only one at fault here.
Moon, it's your decision whether I stay or go. No more of this on-again off-again crap. This is the last time, one way or another. Make your choice. Array If you want out totally Swords, that means giving up your moderator status as well. We can have Naekos and Senyik disappear sometime on the way back from the dragon hunt, that way we do not have to rewrite too much of the back story.....
