Locks and Learning A couple things, I am into broadswords. I am looking for a teacher in
Michigan, are there any reccomendations? I am looking for fuctional
applications, not for theater. Also would anyone be intrested in a secure
method to display blades to a wall or plaque? For flat blades, .5 to 3
inches wide. I have designed a method and have built a functional model,
anyone else interested? -

Nothing in Michigan, but if you contact some of the places listed they
might know of somewhere.
"Broadsword" is pretty.. umm.. broad. I presume yuo mean single handed
cutting sword, do you have a period in mind?

Re: Locks and Learning Thanks for the list, I will look into them. Single hand to hand and a half,
my Byzantine Crusader is my favorite, light at the tip. There are a couple
SCA type groups close, I have not really looked into them yet.

SCA heavy, and most of the other costumed groups but not all, tend to
be their own versions of a sport rather than studying historical combat.
SCA will not let you use a metal sword, will teach you techniques that
won't work with a metal sword, but will give you plenty of chances for
learning what it's like to fight full on.
It's been my experience that few easily available mass produced weapons
have decent balance, and so are difficult to use well. The Del Tin range
is probably the best, although the Hanwei is very good for the price.
