| Wireless + New Timings I'm not a big techie... so I had a random thought that turned into question...
Do the new timing changes for foil (Depression & Blockout) and Saber (Blockout) make it more difficult to implement a wireless scoring system?
I would think that these micro changes that have such a huge impact on the sport would be very difficult to record and transmit consistantly...

| I had thought that the sabre system cut the weapon signal after detecting a hit from the opponent (with a lockout addition of course). There is no need to actually transmit a signal between the boxes through the aether to time the lock out for sabre.
.... I'll bet I am getting that way wrong though. But would be interested in hearing from the more knowledgeable

| Wireless Sabre could be called an Oxymoron. It should be called Reelless Sabre. No signals are going through the ether. Each Fencer is physically connected to a box by wires and imformation is passed between the two boxes through the Sabre and lame coming in physical contact. The box that is on a table is only for the audience and has nothing to do with the scoring of any touches recieved.

| Even if signals were being sent through radio waves, they still travel at the speed of light. A few ms of latency might be added by the electronic chips, but it would be roughly negligable. In any event, it is irrelevant because both fencers still are hooked up by copper wires to the official scoring apparatus. They just happen to wear it on their backs. (or somewhere) |

| Radio waves don't travel at the speed of light inside the atmosphere, only in free space ( where none of us are going to be fencing soon ). |
