 Closing this folder. Since it's well into 2005, it's time to close this folder. I created it to house the huge number of presidential campaign "discussion" and now it's time for this to go the way of the archive.

Why not just rename it "Politics"?
Everyone's still using it. Freedom of speech makes it easier to spot the idiots.

And the discussions here are best segregated off from the rest of the water cooler. Perhaps just a rename rather than closure?

I vote renaming it. and maybe putting it as a separate forum so you don't have to come in through the WC every time...

 Craig, maybe you should put a poll out on who wants to keep the folder and rename it Politics since I know many people are into this folder and would like to make it into a thread.  "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."

I don't think there's much of an issue if "political topics" are mingled among the other "non-fencing topics." What would it hurt? And how do you truly define a "political topic" over a "social topic" other than the word 'Bush' or 'idiot' appears within the thread!

I occasionally like to read the political threads. once the political ones were separated from the WC, I basically don't have to read the WC anymore. so, to re-integrate them would mean sifting through the WC again.

I agree with EM81. It's nice to have that separation for different types of topics. The same way we have an Armory Q&A section. Doesn't mean there aren't armoring topics covered in the Fencing section, but it helps with locating threads, it helps with keeping threads on similar topics together, and it helps with planning out what types of topics you're interested in reading about at any given time, making that time more effecient.

Because all polls, by the very nature of being polls, are flawed. If it was not flawed it would be flawed because it does not adhere to a central pillar of being a poll.
