    Um... hi?

    Guten Tag!
Uh, well... just joined this forum today. So hi there!
I'm American but I live in Germany, I've fenced five years, mostly foil, and I usually troll the fencingforum website as do, apparently, a whole bunch of other people on here (mostly the Brits).
Hopefully, I'll come back to the US to fence in my first Summer Nationals, where I will no doubt get the sh** beaten out of me since I don't have the faintest idea how to fence under the new foil rules since the Germans have been mighty slow to switch over (all of our tournies are still run-and-flick tournies). But I'm from near San Francisco, so at least it'll be a short drive.

Welcome to the board. When you come back to the states you shouldn't have as much trouble as you think with the new timings. Most people I have talked to have adjusted quickly if they even had to adjust at all. Good luck anyway.

Welcome and remember - you wouldn't have to adjust to anything if you'd come over to the dark side and fence epee!!

I tried sabre last week, actually, and I noticed that fencing sabre like a foilist works pretty well, especially with the new timings that seem to favor quick jabs.
