Wow!

Yelling, disagreements, apologies, Philadelphia fencers! I'm sorry to have missed it all! I'm new to fencing and thought that all fencers were a little stuffy. I'm glad to see that's not true. Maybe we in Central PA can host a tournament with ALL those elements. We could call it the Springer Classic! What do you say, Epee 1? Congratulations to all the participants and especially to my instructor!!!

(I think you were yelling at a lot of people yesterday.)

Don't know if you could have controlled this, but I had a suggestion or two for improvement.

1. Have more than one person collecting information and money from the fencers at the beginning of the tournament, and let someone else plug the info into the computer. I know that data entry takes time, but as a competitor, I want to spend time stretching and warming up with my teammates rather than standing in line.

2. Mark strip numbers before the competition. A lot of fencers were confused on what pool to go to. I also heard that some of the refs/bout committee people were yelling at the fencers when they asked which strip was which.

3. Give a ref a table from the 64 to the 16, somewhat like they do at NACs. I had no clue were my next bout was going to be and when it was going to occur. If you keep it together a little more, it makes things a little more predictable. It also lets me be at the strip, on time and dressed, so the entire tournament goes quicker.

Thanks.

The Capitol division use to put big tournaments on all the time the 1980s and early 1990s but we were not ready for this one. The site was great but organization was lacking big time. Hopefully this will be a good learning experience of what not to do and the MAS will be much better. Also would like to thank the Puerto Rican team for attending. I think they had a great time even with the organizational problems.

LOL - I don't think the division would look kindly on a tournament that .....wait what am I talking about - this is the Harrisburg Division - we thrive on conflict!!! (But I don't think the chair would sanction it somehow)

Markstorm is on a distinguished road
I got my *** kicked in the Sabre but I have to give props to Kolodner and Torres for placing 1st and second, respectively.

The puerto rican sabrist (Torres) was good and incredible sportsmanlike. Props to all who were there!
