| Farewell and apologies
I posted a rather rash post on my opinions about sport versus classical fencing which seems to have given rise to much animosity against my person.
Before this goes too far, I apologize for the violence of my post (If I could edit it, I would have deleted it already), and it is my wish that everyone ignores my "Curse the absurd rules!" thread.
That being said, I'm leaving these forums to never return. No hard feelings, I hope,

| dude, don't have to leave. there are plenty of people here with heated opinions.
just try and be civil about discussing them is all. your post was just like a thousand others that have been posted up here. you apologised, i'm cool with you if you're willing to stick around and civilly discuss your opinions, not just fire out insults and what we view as horrible misinformation. | |

| If you'd just stuck to the first two paragraphs, I'd have said this was a perfect post. As it is, I consider "Farewell" posts to tend to be melodramatic performances from people who just want attention. |

| This forum feeds off controversial opinions in order to generate discussion. We all disagreed with you and many of us objected to the way you were attacking our sport (not to mention the rather pompous tone in which you put your arguement to us). Still, if thats what you believe then you should fight your corner. You need only look at one of the numerous 'which is the best weapon', threads to see that all we do here is argue.

C'mon man, I missed the whole conversation! You can't just up and take your sword home without at least sticking around long enough for the riposte. I've got a handful of good ones. That's just a tease. And mean to boot.
I can't fence till tomorrow so a verbal duel at least, is entertainment enough for today. And I missed it! Argh!
Please, please, please come back? Fighting with Inq just isn't interesting any more.

His is the classic complaint of those who come to fencing expecting to find Romance but only finding Sport--rather like getting married expecting Leave It To Beaver or Ozzie and Harriet but discovering that real marriage is more like Rosanne or Married With Children... | |

I finally read VMoss's initial post on that thread. ... It's a troll! Message baiting, thru and thru! And such an obvious ploy at that. Trust me, I've played the part often enough on other message boards to recognize the signs (as others have noted as well).
And then this thread? Clinches it. The VMoss ID was created for a bit of tomfoolery at our expense, folks, to rile up a few message threads and nothing more.
