I am SO going to this it's not even funny. I can't see how it would be funny but regardless, let it be known that this isn't even funny. Yeah. See you there.

BTW: What's the significance of PR sending fencers? Just to show that it's international? Do I have to have ' USA' on my lame?

Their coach may have brought them to the US to give them some experience in a tournament. If they still have the same coach, he used to live and work in the U.S.

As for "USA," you don't even need your name on your uniform for this one.

Yup--it was Ulpiano Parilla, who is the national sabre coach in Puerto Rico these days. He used to live in York. There was quite a crowd of the kids from Puerto Rico and it was pleasant to have them cheering their sabre fencers on.

Despite having to hit the ground running in a dark gymnasium with no strips laid down, two machines, only the possibility of referees, and over 30 fencers, the organizers managed to make it a pleasant tournament. Because they had a positive attitude and understood how to keep things moving, because they were willing to do what it took, I enjoyed myself even though the tournament was flighted and I had to referee in between and after my DE bouts.

How was the foil a B3? Only 51 competitors.

That's what I heard through the rumor mill. It's quite possible that I'm wrong... I'm only an epeeist.
