Good fencing club in Southern California, preferably OC?

Hi;

I am a Canadian epee fencer who is looking to fence with a good club asap in Southern California. Does anyone have info on Margo Miller's club? Thanks.

I'd guess Margo's with L.A. Intl. Fencing Center -- or as we call it, LAX.

In Orange County....hmmmm...not familiar with the epee salles there...

You could also look into Fortune Fencing in Altadena...

Go to USFencing.org and hit the link for finding a club in your area, then click on Califoirnia, and the division you wish to check out.

Hopefully Purple Fencer can shed more light on this, because I don't know much about OC Fencing. http://ocfencing.org/places.htm
>Oops, see his post above<

I do know that our club, Fortune Fencing in Pasadena is nearly all epee with probably 15-20% Foil, and that one guy regularly drives up from Long Beach to fence epee because OC is mostly foil (he says). Could be he is only referring to one club. I don't know.

If you are interested in epee, try www.fortunefencing.com
Cheers,
John

Thanks!

Thanks for the input, but I managed to find Margo Miller's club. It is the Beverley Hills fencing club. I will be in touch with Margo. Thanks again.

What part of OC are you looking in? or in SoCal in general?

The two clubs I'm most familiar with in OC (South Coast Fencing Center and Orange County Fencing Academy/ Swashbucklers) are pretty much foil and sabre fencers -- although there are some reasonable epee fencers there as well (B's and C's at the club I go to, but not many).

For Epee, Fortune fencing in Pasadena has a pretty good reputation, but they are not particularly close to OC (closer than Beverly Hills or the West Side).

Epee in the OC

There's also Salle Saufen, at Fullerton, which is primarily an Epee club unless they take a fancy to fencing sabre on a particular evening.

Is Salle Saufen with CSU Fullerton, or elsewhere?

I've heard of another club in the Fullerton/ La Mirada area, but don't know anything about them? And I don't have any contact information for Salle Saufen

The members of Salle Saufen practice at CSU Fullerton, certainly, but they are completely separate from the NCAA program there. The best bet for contacting them is to show up at an OCD meet (the Citrus Open, May 1 at CSULB, for example) and ask the Bout Committee to point them out to you - there's usually at least one club person at every meet. =)

The only other clubs I know of in that local area are SCFC, Swashbucklers, and UCI. (though there's also Salle McBean in Riverside and Inland Empire in Upland)
