| SW Sect. prereg. running now on askFRED Five weeks ahead of the Southwest Sectional Championship (summer nat qualifiers) and less than a dozen have preregistered online. If you live in the area, please be sure to let your fencing friends know. Registration fees increase April 29, and then go up again at the door. |

| As for where and when the SouthWEST sectionals will be:
South Texas.
No, No wait.
North Texas. St. Marks.
No, No wait.
Still North Texas but different place.
No, No wait.
Some where in North Texas. Better than 90% chance in NorthTexas.
No, No wait.
Now I have it.
Gulf Coast Division (i.e. Houston)
The Houston Athletic Fencing Center
4997 West Bellfort
Houston, Texas 77035
May 14th and 15th, 2005
Be sure and register early the fees go up drasticly!
Cheers

| re South EAST:
Not being from that area, I had no choice but to turn my noggin slightly askew and started "thinking" ...
USFA site --> info for members --> clubs, etc. --> SESection page --> message board, "Sectionals" folder --> http://www.sesfencing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=91
Wacky, eh?
Thanks for the opportunity to think for you on a topic that wasn't even related to my original thread!

Cheers | Yea, and if you want someone to blame for the venue difficulties, don't lay it on anyone in North Texas. We tried our hardest to get something, but just didn't have enough time after South Texas declined.
But I'm just curious, if you call a $15 pre-payment discount "drastic" what do YOU think is an appropriate amount? |

| $15 might not be a lot of money to you, but for us poor college students, thats a big deal. |

And if I had known earlier I would have sent you a donation to cover the expense, except that I just gave that money to some homeless bum I met on the street who said he needed a decent meal.
His sabre was rusty, too. |

I did not know Ark-La-Miss, Border Texas, and Louisiana could not find venues either.
I guess the section bylaws ARE "optional"
Article VII. Section 1. . . . . .The Championships shall be held on a rotation basis according to the following order of invitations: (1) Oklahoma; (2) South Texas; (3) Ark-La-Miss; (4) North Texas; (5) Border Texas; (6) Louisiana; (7) Gulf Coast. In the event that the Division whose turn it is to host the Championships fails to accommodate the invitation, that Division then goes to the bottom of the list. The next Division then being eligible shall be asked to tender an invitation.
"nay, nay, nay" |

| ALM passed on the opportunity as they are preparing for next year. At that point, the SWS EC as a whole decided the best thing to do was to find the best venue we could as quickly as we could and go back into the normally scheduled rotation next year. Talk to the chair, I understand she's in Lousiana Division... |

A balance is needed somewhere between no incentive to preregister and prepay and way too draconian in the application of late fees. $15 seems like a reasonable middle ground. |

| It seems like a fair date. It's long enough after Divisionals that you know if you need to attend because of results there. |
