| ALL epeeists are perfectly proportioned, no matter what snooty foil/sabre fencers believe otherwise. |

| (Also posted in the Religion Thread)
I was born a foilist and was a faithful practitioner even though my personal beliefs and actions were rather liberal and widely considered to be somewhat unorthodox.
As I grew up and began to gain first hand experience with some of the harsher elements of the world, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery. I looked deep inside my soul and began to question the world around me. What I saw was startling, and terrified my inner being. I learned that sometimes up could be down, forward could be backward and that right-of-way could be wrong. I was lost and shattered. Had the world of my childhood been a big fat stack of lies?
My moral compass was spinning in a sea of doubt.
But then, when all hope was nearly lost, the truth was revealed to me. My life was forever changed. EPEE was to forever change my life for the better. It was as though I had found a peaceful harbor in the midst of a raging storm. Every day became a little brighter, and I began to love the world again.
I had been redeemed; saved as it were.
Now I preach the gospel of truth, and shout it in the streets.
EPEE! EPEE! EPEE!
Truth like a cool glass of water, as I walk though the deserts of iniquity.

"E-P-double E-with-an-accent- EPEE!"
dorks? of course. but loud, proud, fast-chanting dorks.

| Mr. Epee's religious manifestos notwithstanding, I believe that there are far more nationally ranked epee fencers on this board than foilists and sabreists.
...it would be interesting to do a poll.

True, there are more epee fencers on the US points list. The difference between the number of foil and epee fencers is minor, in comparison to the number of people who post here. Regarding sabre, however, you probably have a good point.
If I knew enough statistics, I'd get percentages and throw a p-value in there, too. Let's just see what happens with it.

However we catch up by having almost a 50% advantage in the up and coming D, E and U fencers! That is why we must rally the faithful and support our brother and sister EPEEists! EPEE Solidarity! EPEEist's Unite! Viva la revolution!

...it would be interesting to do a poll. | I was nationally ranked in both foil and epee at the same time for several years, but not since 2001, does that count?

| A student once referred to me as a fencing Harie Chrishna (sp?)... In the threeish years I have been fencing I have been a founding member or the founder of two fencing clubs, 5 school programs, the revival of a parks and rec. program and became a division officer (my version of self flagulation)! I tried handing out epee's to people at the airport as they got off the planes but since 911 I have not had much luck getting in the airport with my blades! I even had to quit my job as it was taking up to much time from fencing related activities. I think I am already a member of the fencing cult…

| Ooh! I am almost up to the coveted Four Dots!
I got to fence the Coach at our club last night, along with several other people. We don't have any A rated at our club except the two Coaches (several Cs though) and it was really neat to see how fast and adaptive they were.
I acquitted myself quite well, at one point surprising both of use with a sudden bellpunch to his shoe. It surprised him so much that he completely dropped his guard and extended a hand to help me up. At which point, I figured that it would be unsporting to score, but wait 'til next time!!

It was such the perfect blade, perfectly balaned, perfectly bent. . .
<sniff>
I'm gonna miss it.
