similar enough skills, but we have better science now.
His EPEE fencing is well known...
On the subject of The Bard - Were we supposed to assume anything about Hamlet, because he chose to fence with foils, even though EPEEs were obviously more appropriate?

Epee is as close to "perfect" as fencing can get: no ROW, everything target. What's to tinker with? | Quote: |

I once had an opponent's epee miss my knee and go between my legs, where I trapped it with a demivolte long enough to nail him. He screamed bloody murder, and the director threw it out. | Quote: |

I equipped myself with epee impedimenta just in order to get more fencing time. I like it well enough, and I do OK at it |

you always have to be aware of your target at all times making sure nothing is showing. the best part is that you can actually think WHILE you're fencing since the pace is slower, and more patient. its a great integration of mind and body; no more mindless running into each other. great experience. |

| My very strange attempt to describe in a graphlike manner the different energy levels of the weapons as I envision them.
If the interaction between fencers could be thought of as a sign wave, with peaks representing offensive/defensive interplay and valleys representing tactical repositionings, I imagine epeeists interacting at a low, humming sine wave with constant minor changes; foilists experience sine waves of greater magnititude interspersed with longer 'trade-off' troughs where the RoW changes hands and someone is forced back on the strip; and sabre, of course, where the tactical decisions are immediate and peak very quickly.
Weird, huh?

| So Glowstix, all that being said, why do you still have a foil lame on in your avatar?

| Wow! My reputation exceeds anything I might have expected from starting this thread. Sheesh.
I almost feel dirty now.
Thank you, my fellow EPEEists. Gawd bless you all. |

| I too am impressed with the participation in this little thread.
It's amazing what people can do when they work together. The brotherhood of EPEEists have forever changed the landscape of this discussion forum.
Right now I am only a couple of points away from joining the previously exclusive 5 dot club, and I am 100% commited to dragging as many fellow EPEEists along with me.
Keep the Faith, up the EPEE!
BTW When Zmurfette boosts up your reputation, it's like getting smacked in the face with a freaking rep point sledge-hammer. I swear it's like 5104 points a swing. Be very very nice to her.
Why isn't she listed on the users list when I sort it by rep points? She might be the pack leader, for all we know...

| I might be persuaded to fence epee.........
as a fairly retired foilist who is thinking of some weekend competitions......I think it might just be more fun..
But of course I will always be a goalie first.....lol |

| Well, in EPEE you can still stop the shot with your body, as long as you hit them in the hand first.
