Coaches College - Questions

I am interested in attending, but have not been able to get in touch with the OTC. No one ever answers the phones. Has anyone attended one of the one week sessions? The price is very reasonable for a week with room and board.

A couple of questions:

Is it worth while - that is good instruction?

How are the accomodations - private restrooms or all common showers?

How is the training syllabus? Is it logical?

Finally, how long does it take to acclimatize to the altitude since I am a flat-lander?

Any help appreciated. I am looking to become a better coach for my team. Thanks much.

It's dorm like accomodations. 2-4 to a room, common bathroom (with shower stalls)

It ussually takes me about a day or 2. You have to be careful to pace yourself and drink lots of water.

coaches college is great

If you have more questions, you can use this board to pose a question for or to send a private message to Andrea (Lagan). Search on her username (Andrea) or on coaches' college.

C.C. is very specific to improving your coaching of fencing, not your fencing skills or your referee skills.

It is an outstanding opportunity to work with some of the most experienced and respected fencing coaches in the country.

I live at sea level and I did not notice any substantial effect of altitude there. The effects vary widely with individuals. The effects are not linear with altitude and Colorado Springs is not high enough for most people to suffer significant symptoms. It is high enough for the Olympic-caliber athletes who train there to get a benefit on their cardiovascular performance. Three weeks training for a triathlon at 6000 ft. will cause an increase in red blood cell production and other adaptations.
