| Whats the best thing to eat during a tournament? so your pools have just finished, and DEs dont start for another half hour... what do you eat to satisfy the growing hunger in your belly, commanding you to eat?
I personally like eating something light... like 8 or 9 cheeseburgers and a few orders of fries, washed down with a milkshake or two. Or, if im in the mood for something spicy, about 20 or so tacos usually hit the spot. |

| Much as I disapprove of gimmicks in general, this one has won my heart.
Fruit or nutrition bar usually. Lots of water. Mmmm.

| Usually a pack of M&Ms or whatever they're selling. Maybe a chocolate croissant if the fencing gods are smiling on me. Washed down with a beer. But only one, since they're half a liter each. |

When I'm really hungry my body craves for a proper sabreur, but not until after the competition! Ouch, I can feel the smack over my head already... :-p

Unfortunately, I've moved to the North, where they have pinner .33 liter beers that taste like dirty fencing socks. Kind of like US beer, actually. At most pubs, however, you can still get a good .5 liter Bavarian weissbeer. And if you go to the bottle shops you can get beer from all over Germany and the Czech Republic. Yum!
The best part, it's not against any regulations in Bavaria to have a beer during the tournament, just as long as you aren't drunk. |

They were about $5.00 a mug...

| pretty much what was said above - granola bars or fruit are always good. I also really liked a bagel before the tourney - it's heavy and filling, but it's starch and not at all greasy, so it sits well and keeps me energized. I made the mistake of buying donuts for those that helped set-up before our last tournament. don't do that. they're good at first, but that yeast and sugar does not sit well once you're on the strip and moving around. |

| Water. Usually nothing to eat until after I'm done fencing. For some reason, I don't like eating before or during fencing. So yes, some days I don't eat at all until 4-5:00. |

| Well, yeah. Of course. Goes without saying.
The hearts of my enemies, a little of their blood, plenty of water and bananas. And maybe raisins.
Hearts, blood, water, bananas and raisins. Definitely the short list.
And sometimes a few M&Ms.
So that's enemy hearts/blood, water, bananas, raisins and M&Ms. Nothing else.
Definitely not bagels. Unless I can't get to my enemy's heart, and then a bagel is the next best thing for a quick snack-like meal. Skip the blood in that case. |
