| National Youth Leadership Forum Has anyone heard about this or even gone to one of them? I was invited to go to the technology one in California, but it is more that $3,000 to get in, not including travel!! I just want to get some opinions of people who have been there or have heard about it from friends. Thanks for your help.

| I was "invited" to something of that nature, but it looked too much like a scam, so I said forget it.
(They had an entire like 2 pages about how I was "selectively chosen" without going into how, exactly, they choose people.)
(Also, my parents weren't willing to give me the money, so forget it.) |

| I'm a senior now....over the last 4 years I was invited to over 50 of them...most of them are for real, and they are all right if you have the money to spend....not really "selective" though.

| They're really very selective. How many highschoolers do you know with $3,000 to spare? |

| I went to a guidance councelor about it and they said that they are good if I can afford it. I'm going to do some fundraising and asking around. The only fundraising that I can think about is a yard sale. Anyone have any other ideas that they did?

| Yeah, and I went to a guidance counselor who told me I couldn't switch classes...couldn't get the classes I wanted...couldn't get to the Academy...et cetera.
Screw 'em all, they're worthless.
Fundraising...Krispy Kremes. Find something that a lot of people will have to go to early in the morning. Go talk to Krispy Kreme; they give serious discounts on dozens of donuts for fundraisers. I recently made my Group here ~$250 that way. |

There is also the problem of finding the people and giving it to them. Kids at my school like to buy candy and stuff if it is there in front of them.

| Just use a common point. Yes, you have to get up a bit early, but that's what happens when you want to make money. For delivery, just have a common point where people come to get the donuts. We just delivered them to the various CQs. |

| I remember at my school they just bought several dozen and sold them individually... maybe you could make more money easily this way? |

| Thanks for all of your help. I have decided that I can find a program around where I live that will help me get specific knowledge that I want. The forum covers a lot of tech, but not what I really want. It will be a lot better on my schedule and my wallet
