| Can I combine Leon Paul and Duellist parts? Hi all, I'm using this for the first time so be patient! lol.
I'm replacing my saber blade for the first time and am wondering if I could use a blade from a different supplier (Duellist ideally) with my Leon Paul handle, guard etc.
Can anybody help? |

| Easy peasy - blades are interchangeable don't worry!
(Nice place Deal - if you go out to eat try the Compass on the seafront, tell my brother that I sent you!) |

| be careful... interchanging parts can quite possibly throw off the earth's orbit, sending the planet careening into the sun, ending all human existance as we know it.
(p.s. im 500+ lbs and i can fence! cool, huh?) |

| For saber all modern parts are completely interchangeable. It is actually the best way to build a blade that has a good feel for you. I use StM blades, PBT handles, Lightweight Chinese guards, Uhlmann two prong sockets and Chinese insulation as an example. No worries, mix and match all you want to get the best feel for you.

| The lower plastic/rubber insulation sleeve for the bottom of the saber guard near the pommel. I think I am one of the few people who dont just use duct tape!

(p.s. im 500+ lbs and i can fence! cool, huh?) | Can someone get this kid a troll coach? FTH? Reverselunge? You have to integrate your off-topic, obnoxious comment into the thread, otherwise it's not trolling at all!
For example, you could be like "I once had a grip that didn't fit on the blade, so I sat on it and then it worked fine." This is on topic, relates to your "troll theme" of being fat, and at least required a little thought.
Someone should start a website on how to troll. |

| Please excuse my ignorance. But other than a rather ugly monster that lives under bridges to terrorize would be traveller's. What's a troll?

| Occasionally, you will have to file down the hole in your bellguard to make the blade fit in it, but that is simple to do. You're not the only one who uses proper insulation, I think duct tape looks terrible. |

Usually, they sound like they're 12. Sometimes they actually are.
This forum is actually great because trolls here are few and far between. Either they leave within a week or two, or they become contributing forum members. It's nice. |

| can the same be done for foil? mine so far are made exclusively uhlmann german parts, cos i dunno enough yet to find fault in the idea that parts from the same manufacturer usually complement each other better...

Small parts that go into the electric point (tips, springs and screws) often do not work with those from other manufacturers. |

| I did want to put out a warning to those fencers who went away for a while and came back. Tang size now has pretty much been standardize for a few years and new fencers should not have much problem with pommels. The one exception is the Leon Paul 2-piece pommel. If you have older pommels, (over 10 years old) they may be a different size then the 6mm semi-standard of today.

I believe the term is derived from trolling, you now, where you throw a lure (stupid post) into water (a board) hoping to catch something (a reaction). Quote: |

Oh, and yeah, most parts are interchangeable. Actually, after a few years of fencing you're bound to have only 'mixed' stuff, because some parts endure, while others are almost disposables. |

| That's assuming you don't stick to one vendor exclusively, of course. It certainly makes sense for a club or team to agree on a standard when possible (french or german tips, bayonet or 2prong, etc). |
