| summer nationals i'm a little bit confused about summer nationals. i'm going to be participating in a super you circuit event in san jose next week and it says that you can qualify through that for the summer nationals. but there is no junior event that i saw listed in the entry form. there is also a qualifying tournament in my home area for the summer nationals and if i qualify there, what exactly happens? |

| There are two tournaments going on at the same time, the Super Youth Regional event and the Junior Pacific Coast Section Championships. I believe that the Jr PCC event is a qualifier for the Junior events at the SNC. In addition, the winner of the Jr PCC qualifies for the Div 1A event. |

| But fencers competing in the Jr PCCs portion must be fencers from the Pacific Coast Section. It's not an open event to any fencer. The Jr PCCs is the qualifiers to U-19 Summer Nationals, as well as to Div IA (by being the winner, according to rdinap).
The SYC only qualifies Y10 and Y12 fencers to Summer Nationals, the Y14 and U16 are for "fun".

| I just wanted to correct an error in Eric's post. The SYC awards National Points in each Y10, Y12, and Y14 event to the top 40% of the field. Since being on the National Point list is one of the ways to qualify in Y14 (the other way is to finish in the top 25% of the field at your divisional Y14 qualifier), the SYC is a way to qualify to Summer Nationals.
To recap: for Y10 and Y12, you must fence the weapon and the age group that you want to enter at Summer Nationals at either an RYC or an SYC this season. Since these events do not have any results based qualifying paths, all you have to do is fence one of these events, not finish anywhere in particular. If you do fence at an SYC and finish in the top 40% of the field, you earn National Points in that event which is an added bonus.
For Y14 events, you must qualify to fence these events at Summer Nationals by (1) being on the National Point list for Y14 in whatever weapon you want to fence (You can do that one of two ways: make the top 32 at a Y14 NAC or finish in the top 40% of the field at an SYC Y14 event) or (2) finishing in the top 25% at your divisional qualifier for Y14 events at Summer Nationals.
With respect to the SYC in San Jose, while I would like to say that all the events are for "fun", the only one that cannot help a fencer qualify to Summer Nationals are the Cadet events. As Eric pointed out, the U19 events are restricted to Pacific Coast Section fencers. |

| Jr. PCC / Super Youth Circuit Wow mgriffin,
You sure know your stuff. But Eric, why is it you did not know that answer? Are you not the regional youth something or other in that part of the country? |

| I have a question about the junior qualifiers (for me they are in VT). I know that it's the top 25% that qualify in the tournament, but is it the same as the JO qualifiers where the people who have already qualify do not count? As in they add an extra person? That definitely makes more sense to me but i am just making sure. Thanks. |

Results, including designation of qualifiers, will be posted to the section site as soon as I get it from the person who has the computers (and therefore the data). Expect it to be up in the next 2 days or so.
