The realism of the writing comes from taking an article written by the Executive Director of USA Wrestling and changing a few terms to make it sound like fencing (which is where the "styles" bits that don't fit well come in). The original article was from 2002 when the IOC was recommending the elimination of either freestlye or Greco-Roman wrestling from the Olympic programme. Figured that would do a more convincing job than making it up from whole cloth.

I posted it, ran an errand, planned to get back to be able to post on the thread before leaving, but ran into problems finding parking in Center City, which chewed up my planned-for time, which meant I didn't return to the office between posting and leaving. So pretty much, yeah.

I am all for this kind of thing and love this prank.

One idea to consider for the future, when you do this again, and YOU will, make the link actually have something on it before the mark knows they have been hooked.

Otherwise, this did look neat.

Yeah, that was originally planned but I was running short on time (and, indeed, after parking problems, ran out of time). Next year perhaps... :)
