Look, I am not pro new timings - I am a march and flick fencer. But they are NOT going to change it back. They are going in the right direction by going to 8ms. Hey, they might even lengthen the blockout slightly at some point. But its never going to be the 15ms/700ms again.
You can't say there is *nothing* positive at all with these new timings. | I say and i repeat that there is nothing positive with these new timings.
The more so as they have been brought for other reasons aka foil telegeny.
And i don't need to bring new points : the truth is enough.
Now this is only *my* opinion. If a majority of foilists wanted to use these
broken test timings, i would accept them with grace because i am a democrat.
Fortunately, this is obviously not the case as the recent rumor of going back to 8 ms seems to confirm it.

Fortunately some top foilists in Seoul (but they are champions ...)
and some federations are not so fatalist.

600ms? I think they might eventually go to 400-500ms - so probably Sept 2006... |

So far, all I've seen is a rumor that floated back from Jr Worlds.
These rumors often don't pan out, and I recall the statements that the new timings were only going to be applied to the Jr Intl events as a test, and then bang everyone got stuck with them.

Not claiming it to be anything official.
Since it is the FIE, it won't surprise me it ends up being something completely different. An engineer in the UK has just completed an unofficial report on why the straight hits are not registering (similar to the Favero report) plus what tests the FIE should be doing. I'll post a link as soon as we get it up on a UK website. |

| Remove Rene!
I think we should start sending him postacards for each touch in foil that clearly lands and the machine does not go off!
He is trying to fix things that are not broken!
cheers |

But that's not the point. | 1. go to www.google.com
2. copy and paste the words "Comical Ali" into the search box
3. click on the search button
Read up, inform yourself, and enjoy.
Don't call people out as "racist" when you obviosly have no clue.

But in an international forum you may understand that "Comical Ali" may not be known by a French. So it was probably a bad example to take from the start.
I wouldn't compare you to Jamel Debbouze for instance.
Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf is not known as Comical Ali in France.
(I would add that since his name is not Ali, calling him Ali is in my opinion
a racist attitude. I am not saying *you* are racist.
I would add that he may be known for his obvious lies,
but there is another president much more powerful which is also well known
for his obvious lies about some weapons still to be found in Irak... but i would refrain to go on the political domain here)
In fact, i think somebody else would be better compared with Comical Ali
in his obstination to refuse the truth
when in fact these broken test timings have completely spoiled foil
by transforming it into Foilepee, which a large majority of foilists
obviously dislike, but i won't do that either.
