| Some IMAX theater turn down Scientific films to avoid public outcry... http://www.livescience.com/othernews/050319_imax.html
The audience for these movies is small, the distribution is likewise small. Some theaters in the South that show scientific films have refused to show films mentioning Evolution because of Christian outrage. Quote: |
The director of one museum said it chose not to show "Volcanoes" after some people in a previewing audience called it blasphemous
| Of course, this is the same area that has higher deaths when natural catastrophes strike because "if I die in a tornado, it was God's will..."

And that raises a question: Is it God's will that you live in a trailer?

And then (drifting back towards the original thread topic) there's this delightful quote from a Dover, PA school board meeting:
"We've been attacked by the intelligent, educated segment of the culture," he [fundamentalist pastor] said, adding that the school board's declaration is just a first step. more...

I disagree, I think it is a real problem that us educated folk have not mastered the skills required for chasing people around with pitchforks and flaming torches.
Perhaps immolation of non-critical thinkers should be a compulsory grad school course? |

Besides, we might run out of non-critical thinkers. Although that would be a good thing...

| I agree, I don't get religion. I'm not religious. But, I suppose I am loosely called a "Christian". I do visit churches for occasional funerals ( ), christenings, weddings, etc. I don't hate "God", I just don't believe in it. If one gets solace/strength/inner peace from religion, more power to them. Just keep it on the D'Low... In other words, non violent.

To the rest reading this: Please note my refraining from an extremely profane rant about religious intolerance and sheer ignorance, which is what I would really like to do right now. |
