| Merchandise OK, most sports have fan gear.
You can't walk down the street (at least here) without someone wearing a football (both American and regular), basketball, hockey etc... jersey of their favorite player, college, or team...
We fencers on the other hand have none.
How many would be interested if say Leon Paul, who sponsors Golubitsky, put out a fencing style jacket for fans.
I'm thinking a predominantly white short sleeve pull over, quarter zip (even better if they can do an angled zip that's been trendy as of late) and on the back, across the shoulders in blue block letters that were all so familiar with, was written:
GOLUBITSKY
UKR
They could add country colors to the writing, maybe a national symbol on the sleeve, along with a club patch, and patches of his sponsors (Paul, Viktoria, etc...)
Whaddya all think? Would there be a market for it? Or would we all just laugh at anyone wearing such a thing? They could even go retro eventually, and pull out jerseys for Nadi, Gaudin, etc...

| There's that one fencing store...called something that has to do with britches. I'm not into their stuff, though.
I agree, I would really like an awesome fencing T-Shirt.
Oh, you're talking about jerseys. Yeah, that would be awesome too. |

I'm talking something that looks similar to a jacket, with the fencer's name and country as is seen on their competition jacket for casual wear.

I'm talking about something more like other sports have.
If I'm a fan of Michael Jordan, I can go to a store and by a replica jersey, that has his team, his name, and number on it and it's an exact copy of what he wears on court. If I look, I can find similar jersey's that have his name, his team, his numbers, and his sponsors on it. Same with football (both), same with hockey.
So what I'm talking about is something that looks like a fencing jacket. Same stupid blue block letters on the back with the name of the fencer: MILANOLI
ITA
Then his country logo on the sleeve, his sponsors, club patch, clown picture, maybe even a frickin' FIE logo right where the jacket logo usually goes...
In other words, not just a t-shirt. Replica style fan gear. |

| fencing casual wear... That's a great idea!!! What someone should do is have a fencing jacket made out of warm, comfortable material and without the jock strap...this theoretical fencing jacket could potentially be used to fence in (like you could use basketball shoes to play basketball in) but would be dressy...and be like retro...the whole jacket would be either retro white 1920's style fencing or better yet, a black Maestro Jacket...with sponsor patches and the name on the back, like Achilles said... |

| it would be bad *** to modify this jacket slightly...put the zipper on the left or right side...maybe put some pockets on the inside, and a name on the back...it would be pretty cool...and at 150 dollars not too far off from what you would normally pay for a jacket anyway... |

A t-shirt is OK, but it's not replica gear. It's not like being able to buy Michael Jordan's Bulls jersey, or David Beckham's.
I wasn't necessarily thinking of it being acutally a fencing jacket, more of a fashion jacket, or warm up type thing...
But that works too.
Basically, something that looks like a fencing jacket, has the same blue block lettering on the back, and appropiate logos and country colors to spruce it up a bit.

| I like the whole idea. I think it should be more of a warm up type jacket but all the rest would be cool. I would buy it .

| to reconstruct an old fencing jacket though, something would have to be done with the zipper unless it was a back zip then you could chop off the bottom, flip it around, and patch and beadazzle it up as you please. i'll keep ya posted if i get the time to reconstruct.
as far as fan gear goes, why bother making a warm up jacket when most clubs have them anyway for you to get. i dont think there are many people out there besides fencers and their relatives/maybe some friends that would get fan gear. proprintwear pretty much has that down.

| zipper I think it would actually be kind of cool to have jacket close off to one side like a real fencing jacket...only it shouldn't have a zipper, but four or five really big buttons instead. Also, it should zip up like french overcoats...basically the jacket should have an assymetrical cut with a really dramatic neck... |

I was imagining something like this.
Only white, with a side zip from the shoulder. It'd be contemporary, fencing specific, comfortable, and you'd be able to work out in it. It would definitely look like a fan jersey.
Then to make it athlete specific, this could be the perfect Guyart shirt.
The Adidas stripes down the arm could be blue and red, with a French flag at the bottom of the sleeves, then a FIE logo on the front lower left, and of course you'll need a FFE patch, his club patch, and his name and country on the back, in blue.
In other words it would be a jersey of his olympic jacket.
