what flavor of karate? (and read my previous post edit) | Oriental SCA flavor!!! You say that you would spin in a fight, and have done so on numerous occasions. Quote: |

And now you won't spin? Is it out of style? | there's a difference between point sparring in circuit events and fighting in the real world. in point sparring, spinning moves get you more points if you land them (so do head kicks and other things) or, at least, they used to. haven't actively competed in a many years. in a real fight, however, i would never consider throwing a kick above my own waist. its almost suicide against someone else who knows how to fight and use their legs. |

| Noodle I bet you are one of those guys who get into Karate stances and pose in front of the mirror for hours with a Chuck Norris type wooden expression.
If you want real instruction from me then you will have to send me a PM and address it to Sensei. |

OK. Fair enough but we aren't talking about the real world or circuit events. We are talking about the Oriental SCA now. What proof do you have that they are rehersing? And if they were rehersing then the real stuff has to be a lot more clumsy than it already is. |

You claim to be a martial artist but you have no patience? There are a lot of white guys like you in this country who are into all the Asian things. Asian women, cars, Karate etc. You probably even speak a few words of Japanese or whatever. You wouldn't consider the Western SCA guys to be serious so why the Asian ones just because they are Asian? Go for what is real man. |

| The staff/spear fighting was actually not half bad, however. I would like to see them move actual weapons that fast, though... |
