| I'm not entirely sure what I shout, as I'm busy basking in the glory of having actually scored... although, I think usually it's "Et-là" ! or something like that. Occasionally followed by "allez" or "c'mon" when I'm walking back to en guarde.
I shout in competition, but never at the club. |

| I have several screams, all have been picked up from other fencers... apparently I'm not very creative when it comes to screaming
My newest one is the Ric Flair WOOOOO, only not quite as high pitched. I have Brendan Baby to thank for that one. I was watching him fence at the NAC in Kansas City and saw/heard him do it. Next thing I know, I'm doing it and rolling my eyes at myself for it.... because let's be honest it sounds rather silly.
My other common one is the long drawn out YESSSSSSSSSS... not sure who I picked that one up from, but its common enough that I can blame others

| It's situational. For normal touches, it's usually just an "OH-paaaaaah!" For really big ones, it ends up just coming out as an inarticulate bellow.

| When I score it's "Oh-pa-lo!" in a decreasing pitch.
When I thought I was going to score it's "Oh-pa-oh-no!" in an increasing pitch usually followed by some flailing and waving my epee around just before I get hit. |

| I have to be really "juiced" before I verbalize on the strip. Usually, I will just grunt from exertion. If I am feeling particularly flatulent, I will grunt loudly on each action to mask the noise and when people notice the smell, point at my opponent and make a PU face.

| It's usually something like "Whoppaaah!" or "Eeeeyah!" or whatever comes naturally...
I once had the honour of having my arse kicked in foil (Bleurgh! ) by Valentina Vezzali. I accidentally scored a (valid) touch and spontaneously burst out in a "Penitenziagite!"
The whole italian team looked at me with these expressions on their faces. I looked more like but very .
