| The rest of the story....
The "Rules" were changed mid stream by the powers that be. The Divisions and LOCs that "bid" (for lack or a better word) on being designated as a SSCC event were selected and approved on or before April 20, 2004. After that date the rules and requirements were changed May 1, 2004. So the organizers actually only obligated themselves to abide by the rules that existed at that time. (Not field of play rules but fees and event format etc.)
The SSCC tournaments are very good events not because of their affiliation with the SSCC but despite their affiliation with the SSCC.
The SSCC used to be a fun thing that had a purpose but it really seems that it has out lived its usefulness.
Shall we start the stop watches to see how fast the reply will be
Cheers |

| I kind of liked it when Tomasz was a U.
As for the change, perhaps they decided they had enough people coming to cover judges and facility costs and so wanted to encourage other fencers to attend as gravy. |

| Oh, we're not silenced. We're just ignoring the malcontents and naysayers. Come back with some constructive criticism and plans for positive improvement and we can talk. http://www.fencing101.com/vb/showthread.php?t=16966 |

| A number of our kids went to the NTGP and enjoyed it. The facility was apparently especially good. Thanks for hosting a good event. One of the parents came back and said "we need to be fencing in Texas more often". This makes sense as the skills/experience of these young fencers keeps climbing. One of our young ladies earned her B! Thanks again. |

| I've always wanted to be a malcontent and naysayer. mal•con•tent n
somebody who is discontented or dissatisfied with a particular state of affairs, for example. a political system, or with things in general nay•say•er n
someone who votes no or who speaks against something
Guess we hit a nerve!
Naaaaaay

| Tell you what Richard, since you think that the SSCC serves no useful purpose and you obviously don't want anything to do with it, why doesn't the Louisiana Division withdraw from it and let the rest of us in the Southwest Section who think it does serve a useful purpose and lives up to its mission statement get on with our lives. Oh, wait, that exactly what you did! Oh goodie. Now, please get back to doing your own thing down there in New Orleans, we're doing just fine without you. And don't worry, you're doing a fine job of being a malcontent and naysayer.
Afterall, its not like the SSCC championship means anything to anyone or is something worth striving to win. Oh, no, if it did, then then two fencers who are tied at the top of the SSCC point standings in Men's Epee might want to actually fence it off. But, wait! That's what they're going to do, so that they can have the bragging rights. Obviously, the SSCC important to the fencers who participate in it.
And for those of you out there who want to see a hard fought epee match between two superb competitors, come to Dallas for the DeGall Memorial ( http://askfred.net/Events/moreInfo.p...rnament_id=852). On Saturday, April 30th at 1pm there will be a match between Robert Reed and Jim Carpenter, currently tied through all the tiebreakers for first place in the SSCC points lists. The format will be the best two out of three 15 touch bouts. |

| This is gonna sound mighty p'culiar coming from me, but I really hate to see other good folks in my area stumble into public altercations.
Just walk away from it, oso97. Keep your frustration in check, 'cause it's really not going to do any good to gripe about it here and can only lead to more problems later.
Really. Let it go. Be the bigger guy. |

| OH GAD- if you want to call names OSO - call people on the freakin phone. It is also unwise to put words in people's mouths and divisions - There might be some other hobbies that are good uses of time such as:
Baking cookies (for divisions)
Learning to make jambalaya (so you can bring it to the SSCC events and share)
learning to tap dance |

However, you ought to come more often, because I found the NTGP one of the weakest of the SSCC events I attended this year (I missed the Oz Parsons, I'll admit)[1]. If you liked NT, then you'd love the Rose, the Longhorn, not to mention the excellent non-SSCC tournaments we have.
Yeah. Come to Texas, fence friendly.
[1] I'll admit I have a grudge against the slippery copper strips used. I saw several fencers doing multiple splits because their foot slipped during a lunge. |
