| Adidas bag I've seen this bag on the Allstar/Uhlmann German web sites: https://www.allstar.de/modules.php?o...hp&cPath=3_315
If one were to buy it a considerable chunk of the price would come from buying the Adidas label, but it looks promising. The Uhlmann website has an "X ray" picture of it. It appears roomy, it's a double-pocket rollbag AND (this is the kicker for me, personally) there is what appears to be a strap for carrying the bag on the back (great for stairs).
Anyone have experiences with this bag they want to share (we have a review section, I know, but often people don't say anything until they're prompted).
Thankies!

| I have this bag since a couple of years. I bought it in Germany so it was not really pricy in comparison with what you can get in France.
I like it. It has a lot of small details which make your fencing life easier! There are a lot of pockets inside with zippers, you can remove the upper bag and take it with you as a normal one, there's a small bag inside to put your bathroom stuffs and even a pocket to enclose a weapon... Another good point, not a lot of people get it here in US!
I usually put 5 weapons in the pocket made for that and it fits. And last point. I flew a couple of times with it and it's still in good shape (my previous one from a French brand died the first time I took a plane).
The only bad point of this bag (with the price if you can't get it in Germany) is the handle. I found it to soft so I customed it a little bit and now it's perfect! I can walk for hours with my bag behind me... almost!
I hope it helps. |

| other companies make very similiar bags for a much smaller price. Just look around. Dont pay a few hundred dollars for a bag with wheels.

I had heard it's great if you do a lot of traveling, and basically plan to live out of your fencing bag. I don't know if that makes it worth it, but it does make it difficult to compare with similar items.

Again, from everything I've hear, the Adidas rollbag is larger that that. Just read what Screkki puts in his. 5 epees take up a lot of space...

| i have one of the smaller uhlmann rollbags. i have been able to fit 6 epees, 2 sabres, 1 foil, 2 masks, tool box, water bottle, body cords, shoes, and complete uniform w/lames. i think i may have had a few other smaller items in there as well. it takes some doing, but it is possible. |

Still it is very expensive and my current bag holds 4-6 epees, a change of close, two lames, shoes, toolkit, bunch of cords, snacks and a couple of foils. Of course it is actually one of the higher end rolling golf travel bags but it just plain rocks out, even before I clip on the garmet back for my ref clothes or spare lame/uniform.

| another option is get the fencingpost two compartment bag. Its real huge, and you could just attach some wheels to the bottom.

| Personnally, my next bag will have to have the option of removing the wheels. I just hate it when I am going up a batch of stairs in the metro and have to carry all that extra weight.
The ideal bag for me would have to be big, light, and with wheels that can be removed in the event that I know where I am going my options for rolling the bag are limited, or if space for storage is limited (those wheels take a lot of space). It should also have a strong fabric, and the threads that hold it together should be strong and not break the first time I stuff the bag a little too much.
With all that in mind, I am not sure what to pick, but I know one thing for sure is that the Allstar / Uhlmann Jumbo and other types of bags don't fit the bill, because you cannot remove the wheels.
The Prieur / Cartel bags do have removable wheels, but I am not sure about their durability though.
I don't know if you can remove the wheels on the Adidas.

I moved in US with only two bags, so I put all my fencing stuff, my wife's fencing stuff and a bunch of other clothes in this bag!
But of course, everything was dry and clean... which is not the case, when I'm coming back from the fencing club. And I think this is where the Adidas bag is nice. |

Or is this how you get your weight training? That's a lot of extra baggage... just let it go man! At practice, do you need 6 epees? For me, if I break 2 foils, I'm having a bad day and I'm going home to drink beer. I wouldn't tempt karma on a 3rd weapon, let alone 3 more after that. At a competition, I usually use 1 foil; 2 at the most (yes, I still bring 4 weapons --3 to compete in and a spare 'you have a foil a can borrow'). I fix all my stuff before hand so I don't have to carry a tool box (do you really need that hack saw, portable vice, and propane torch?); I carry a tightening tool, and a jewelers screwdriver (in case my spring needs adjustment). Does this make sense? Or am the crazy one here?

| What I really want is a double-pocket rollbag with a back strap. It makes it much easier to go up stairs (assuming you have a strong back). That's why I'm looking at the Adidas.
... and it IS big. I'm going off to college in a little bit, and a huge bag that can carry (almost) everything I could need to survive would be very... um... nice (pardon my vocabulary).

| If your plane goes down and you are marooned on a mysterious island, a la "Lost", you may be glad of that propane torch. |
