| Epee before and now I was looking at some older Epee footage from fencingfootage.com and I think Epee has evolved a lot. It seems to be much more alive in the past.

| Nope.
Besides, it's a small sample to make such a vague generalization over a relatively short period of time. We could just as easily say fencers are tying thier shoelaces tighter. |

| Depending on what you consider alive. At the '84 games, the finals were chase the opponent off the strip for a 2-meter warning. Then it was the opponents turn to chase the first fencer off the strip for their 2-meter warning. They would go repeat this over and over again, with the blades never touching. They went through the regular time to sudden death, which kept going. They finally got rid of the 2-meter warning, so they had to fence. An explosion of both fencers going with only one light.

| I have to say that in comparison to all three weapons, epee has changed little if any at all.

| I don't have time to look at that clip, but Epee has changed quite a bit. Although, it hasn't changed as much as foil, and esp saber, in the past 20 years. Both of those weapons have been through some very significant technical changes during that time period. (Remember that 20 yrs ago saber was still fenced dry).
Epee is much more athletic and active than it was.
Today you will need both lungs if you expect to be successful.
