Hello all,
The Capital City Fencers' Club in Victoria, British Columbia, is proud to present the CCFC Fence-a-Thon, a twelve-hour fencing marathon to benefit the BC Cancer Foundation. The idea for this event was sparked by the death of Canadian national and international fencing referee Christian Vidosa, who passed away in November 2004 following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr Vidosa is missed by fencers across the country, even those of us way out here in BC, and it is for this reason that we have chosen this charity.
The idea is to collect entrance fees ($20CAD) and pledges from the participants, and then to fence for twelve hours or until we all fall down and die. All the money we raise will go directly to the charity. We also have an amazing array of FABulous PRIzes, everything from expensive chocolates and olive oil to fencing equipment to (my personal favourite) body piercing and tattooing. There's also tons of food and entertainment and more prizes coming in all the time. If you only come to one tournament on Vancouver Island this year (and I suggest you do, it's a beautiful place), make it this one!
