| allstar/uhlmann visconti ones, i find, are the best. the rest are just knockoffs that don't feel quite right. |

| I like the france lames visconti pistol grips, though for epee, and foil. Nicely rounded, but heavy.

| I second the allstar viscontis - nice handles.
Also try the zivkovic ones if you can, a host of different designs and may suit you better than the allstar ones.
As a general points get the smallest grip that is comfortable, don't make the mistake of getting a largey, comfy, grip. |

| PbT's version of the hungarian handle is pretty good. It's item C. I use them on my epees, although they, like all other handles are suitable for either. It's kind of like a blend of the belgian and visconti, because it has the common paddle/prong of the belgian, and a much thicker prong for the back three fingers to rest on.

I personally have alot of trouble with Belgians; I can hardly hold them, while others on my team have the same issue with Viscontis. Go up to some fencers at your club, and ask them nicely if you can try their grip. They should, hopefully, let you, and you can try and see if it works. Make sure that, if you like it, you ask about type, brand, and size. |

| I say test out whatever grips you can. Just because a grip is perfect for one person doesn't it's perfect for you. |

I would think a grip that is comfortable would be a better grip. I'm saying this because lately I've been thinking that my Visconti grip was too small. After a night of fencing my hand feels like it does after writing all day with a skinny ball-point pen. What's your reasoning here?

| What Noodle and others said. The smallest grip you can get your hand around. Way to often newer fencers go with giant Russian or TCA Belgian grips because it gives them something to hold onto... and they do, with a grip rather like it was the only thing keeping them from plunging into an abyss!
For grips, Viscontis were never very compfy for me, with only the Uhlmann German ones being tolerable. I love the Zivkovic BIII grips, followed by a Belgian grips, usually from Uhlmann/Allstar. I keep saying I am going to get some of the Schermasport grips from Negrinni since every time I pick one up I am amazed with how comfy they are and feeling of control. However I still stick with my BIII's mainly because I don't want to learn another new grip and if I do I would prefer that it is not something even harder to find and more expensive than my BIII's...

| The allstar PGE or PGEi are great, anything that looks similar. (Every vendor has a grip that looks like one of these, just different names) Go to www.allstar.de and change it to english (top right hand corner of the main page) and go to foil, then accessories, then handles. PGE/PGEi is down the page a bit, might be under "insulated belgian" or something like that.
Picture a visconti, and instead of wrapping your fingers around the prong that goes downwards, there is another prong further along the handle - you put 2 fingers in front, 2 fingers behind. Great grip.
