Foilists : refuse these broken timings

Read today in the French forum, the advice of a veteran foilist, Club President
and national referee.

Many sports realized that they were to evolve/move and their choices were generally effective. The FIE thinks to make the foil more comprehensible while obliging to return to a certain academism. What an error!

The flicks are not the most difficult to arbitrate nor to understand. They in addition have an aesthetic side which entrain adhesion: see the comments of the uninitiated persons after Athens. I think - I hope! - that one will return to the old timings.
As for the reduction of the time of blocking at 300 ms, it is straightforwardly contrary to convention. The results are without surprise: counter-attack and escape! Afflicting!
In fact, concerning the foil, there was (there is always) a true problem, it is that of the attacks short arm. The changes of adjustment did not solve anything. Moreover it was not their goal. The foil thus will remain always also incomprehensible and in more it will lose its spectacular side.
It is necessary that high-level and referees resist: it is necessary that they massively express to return to the old timings.
And to put the foil on good rails, it is enough to make the same changes as with the sabre: removal of the passe-avant and immediate loss of priority to the shortening of arm.
Foilists of all the countries, stay unified against the new timings !

With respect, there is nothing new here. We can only listen to a stuck record for so long.
