| Ok, purdue seriously: What do you feed your mens epee fencers? They're all ENORMOUS.
Like, 7 feet tall, and just huge. What???

and the doc format is what the results were sent out in. these are fresh off the press, ladies. |

| Yeah... the big guys are Jay(skinny 3rd place B fencer), and Big Joe(A fencer). The epeeists are the freaks of our club because they just never seem to be normal sized(for epee). Our C fencer (Ben) was close to 5'8" and the two others are close to the same height(7 foot-ish), but Joe is about as big as a Volkswagon Beatle.
My favorite quote came from one team (don't ask, I can't remember) who took a look at Jay and shouted at their B fencer, "Dude, you got this one, just use your height advantage."
That pic is awesome. It is huge but it gives a great effect, I scrolled down to see your fencer, and when he was in the screen I panned right and saw Jay's torso, and none of his mask. I showed it to my roomie(club member as well) and we had a good hearty laugh about it... still am...

Like, 7 feet tall, and just huge. What??? | *LOL* So both the A and B are 6'8", but as was noted by someone else, Ben is 5'4" (sorry Snuffy, YOU'RE taller than Ben) so you can't complain about all of them. Also, I've seen the C slot fencer fleche OUT OF HIS SHOES, leaving one behind on the strip a time or two. And he ties 'em tight. Quote: |

| Ok, so Jay's a little tall. He'll make everyone look short. Even the crazy tall epeeist from U of Mich is 6'7" from what I know.
the really frustrating thing sometime (also good for a laugh) is that the Purdue's womens epee team is getting shorter and shorter (hey, my B fencer is 5'2" and I'm a grand total of 5'6"). We're not exactly awe inspiring when we step on the strip.

I wasn't injured (any more than usual), and though the reffing was at times horrendous, I didn't lose any bouts to it. I just fenced poorly for a chunk of the competition. my two squad mates dropped a combined 4 bouts.
UMass men also lost the Men's team by only 3 bouts, so I'll claim that, too (though certainly there were other bouts we could have picked up).
That said, Army had a strong team this year, and I just want to congratulate them. I also want to echo U.M. Sabre's comments about Army. I thouroughly enjoy fencing them each and every time, and they are some of the best (and most polite) opponents around.
I look forward to seeing the blood bath between them and UMass next year from the sidelines (or maybe from a distance, if I don't go as a ref, organizer, or coach). I also look forward to seeing how Navy responds next year (or if they bother to) to their sunken battleship.
Side note: Best reffing on the weekend definitely goes to Valerie Providenza, Kerry Walton, and Boaz Ellis.
