I have tried a couple types of fencing shoes, including the adistats (but not the dart2s), and I have found that I actually prefer wrestling shoes to them. I have a better feel for the ground with them and the increased impact doesn't seem to bother me. Plus they're cheaper and, arguably, of better quality.

One of my last pair of shoes were Dartagnan which were comfortable and lasted well considering the use I got out of them...the Riposte shoes were probably the best I've ever had.

I have the Dart 2's, and I find that the traction and support is awesome. They are quite comfy, and are holding up well. I dunno, but the adistars look over engineered, and they are sooooooooo ugly. I'd wear the asyms if I fenced on aluminum strips more often, but since I'm a gym floor fencer, I'll use the darts.

Having owned the old Adistars and the new Dart II's I can say that the Dart II' have much better traction and a better fit for my foot. I just can't justify the extra money for the new Adistars to myself, although I have a few friends that love them. Having said that I have not heard anything bad about the Dart II's and I can buy two pairs for the price of the Adistars! Oh, and this is an Armoury section thread... If you do a search there, you will find a huge list of shoe related discussions including some alternatives to Adidas.

Before buying I think you should take into consideration:
  1. The price you're willing to pay.
  2. What type of floor you usually fence on.
