| Make that three votes for Pascal Cantin in sabre. He's the only ref who looks like he's having as much fun as I am. |

| Vote number four for Pascal...I've only had him once or twice in pools, but I've never really had a bad call by him and he definately enjoys himself while he directs.
Although...I'd have to say Ariana Klinkov is a very close second...for some very obvious reasons

| For sabre? Wes Glon or Steve Mormando. Easy choice. |

| Wow ... colour me pleased at the number of votes for Canadian referees here (Cantin, Vidosa, Belmonte) ...
No wonder that I'm generally pretty pleased with the level of refereeing when I go to the higher-level Canadian events ... |

| ... and vote number five for Pascal Cantin for sabre. Only thing better than a ref you can trust is a ref you can trust who looks like he's enjoying himself. |

| I forgot to post my choice.
I'd get Jerry Benson of Oklahoma city becuase he is a great referee and becuase I have worked with and been refereed by him in the past and know what he is and is not picky about. |

| I have cards, too, but they're all jokers.
Anyway, I'd probably opt for Hristo Hristov, just because he usually sees my actions. |

| I heard Cantin is the best in North America for saber.
Since I'm a foilist though...
Wes, Dakova, Cotton, Oliver. Not particularly in that order. I think Robbie is very good though.
I remember finals in Rochester where Wes was directing. This final had a big screen display above the fencers. Wes made some VERY close calls, where the crowd jeered. George K said something like, "let's rewind the tape and play back in slow motion to see if Wes is correct." Which sure enough, Wes was correct on the multiple times George did that. Talk about pressure! After that, Wes really really got my respect as a director.

| I feel personally biased becasue many of the referees discussed here are personal friends of mine, but I must second the thumbs up for Derrek Cotton and Pascal Cantin. There are good reasons why they are olympic caliber referees. I also would like to express my admiration for our friends to the north. Overall I find that the Canadian referees are excellent. Jeff Bukantz also fits into the category of someone you think is really enjoying himself in his role as well as being a top referee. |

But, now, I would say Pascal Cantin, Charlie Washburn or Jeff Bukantz. |

| Foil - Kreiss Gábor (till his daughter is not fencing, because then we'd have a long pause in the bout). I really like that he enjoys reffing even a cadet WF event, that can suddenly change into wrestling....
In saber, I can't say anything as I've had only 3 competitions |
