A Bicycle Built For Two

We turned on a box recently upgraded with the new timings tonight - and for a length of time, trying to change the weapon setting on the box off of epee would cause the tones to ring out that song "Daisy Bell." You know, that one with the line "of a bicycle built for two.'' The box is an Eclipse, and it was reproduceable a good many times, and then it quit.

A good laugh for sure, but WTF mate? Anyone else even hear of something like this?

In 1961, An IBM 7094 at Bell Labs became the first computer in history to sing a song: "Bicycle built for Two" aka Daisy Bell. Arthur C. Clark heard the computer-synthesized song when he visited the Bell Labs, and later had HAL, the annoying supercomputer in "2001, A Space Odyssey" ("I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that.") sing it while being disconnected.

Also notice what happens when you increment each letter of HAL . . .

Anyway, through random mutation and natural selection, the song has now spontaneously evolved on the Eclipse. So, as a public service, here are the lyrics so you can all sing along on those occasions when the Eclipse plays our anthem.

Daisy, Daisy,
Give me your answer do!
I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you!
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle made for two.

Maybe like HAL in 2001 Space Odyssey, your scoring box might make decisions on its own too! Keep an eye on it. It may insist that it can make its own ROW decisions. "Director, I can not let you jeopardize the call on this bout" it might say. Maybe it will even send an electrical current strong enough to fry everyone connected.

Or maybe I've just seen that movie too much, and scoring boxes don't think they are superior to humans.
