Timing Box + Y-10/Y-12

This is just a random thought.

Is training young fencers on the new box timings a good training tool?

They experience very few of the random bounce off hits, and haven't usually developed a useful flick attack, so the downside seems pretty small.

The upside is that there can reduce a few of those weird hits that kids make by accident. A solid touch is required. The timing could even be extended a little more, to ensure solid training hits... This might help develop the form of actually hitting, and not getting close, then waving until the light goes off

I think it makes sense, but it's just a thought.

Of course there are a few logistic problems, but I have seperate machines for the kids anyway.

Actually, I was talking a good deal about Sean McClain with this..

The little kids fence much better and nicely now that the new timings have come into play.

A lot of them have developed a thought-out, defensive game, as well as a fairly developed cerebral attacking game (then again, I've also seen a fair degree of higher level y10/12 fencing- which you gotta thank FAW and FC for).

They operate at a much slower speed, and won't bounce off as often... And many of them are used to training with people their size, wearing chest protectors... for these kids, the new timings don't matter, as they've been working with no other alternative.
