Feeding Half-wit trolls

I know feeding the troll only prolongs their existence, but sometimes it's fun...

I realize trolls are a part of internet forums, but why do we seem to get the stupid ones? Are we a troll training ground? If you're going to troll, at least make it entertaining!! Every once in a while we get some idiot that wanders in whose life seems to consist of amusing himself/herself with what they seem to believe are funny comments.

If you're going to troll, try a little harder. Take a troll tutorial for god's sake. I suggest searching for any post by Inquartata. This maybe a little advanced for most people, but a primer in Latin should do the trick. Scope out the site a little, get a feel for what pushes people's buttons, then take a night and see how long you can keep them on your leash.

Take pride in your work, otherwise, you will be ignored or deleted faster than you can say "Freedom of Speech".

I agree. As much as they are annoying, Trolls are part of the ecology of a web forum. It's all part of a balance.

I've been on an electronics forum and an astronomy forum, and the trolls that I've seen here have been a lot less of a problem. Granted, I've not been around for very long, but...

You're right, trolls are a part of the forums. There is, however, a big difference between people who say stupid/inappropriate/offensive things, and those who say stupid/inappropriate/offensive things as well as make personal threats and try to frighten people.

Having some putz say that someone else sucks because they're no good at fencing - most people can handle that with no problem; however, most people are less likely to tolerate someone saying someone else sucks and they've found out where that person lives to teach them a lesson, then go into graphic detail about it...
