another newbie!

Hi all.

I've been lurking around here for a few months now, and finally decided to go legitimate.

I'm a 38 year old guy, only fencing for about 10 months. Always wanted to, you know the routine... My daughter (9 yrs.) finally talked me into it, and we fence together in a local, really layed-back rec club. I know it's a cliche, but now that I've started, I'm not sure how I ever survived without fencing. Talk about stress relief!

I've only fenced foil so far (I can hear the groans already) but hope to try epee and sabre soon. And definitely getting out to some tournaments in the next few months.

Thanks for all the wonderful info I've already found here, and hope to get to know you all a little better.

I'm in about the same situation (I'm 25 and sans daughter though). I began at a laid back YMCA and only did foil for over a year. I'm up to about 18 months now, give or take. I've branched out to epee, and I'm looking forward to sabre. Now I find myself rather obsessed with the sport.

Anyway, good luck, welcome to the club, and I hope you enjoy the years of fencing bliss to come.
