Teach Refereeing Fencing Game And Another.

I managed to find two fencing games. One for refereeing and another I will check in a minute.

I'm puzzled on the third or fourth question in on the thinkquest quiz. It's the one about PiL. I thought PiL can not be called if it is executed simultaneously with the attack, because it needs to be one tempo ahead. So the point would be given to the attacker. However, if the PiL was created one tempo before that attack, then the PiL certainly gets the point.

The PiL question on that quiz shows a simulatenous PiL on the right and attack on the left. Since PiL wasn't initiated one tempo before left's attack, shouldn't the point go to the left?

Think of it not as a point in line that needs to be established and more as an attack with the point.

The thinkquest ref thingie is rather unclear and offers an explanation that many established refs will disagree with.

well since we haven't had a PiL arguement for a while ;

I am with epee scherma, that looks like an attempt to establish PiL rather than a simple attack - movement stops after the arm is extended, there is no footwork forward (the simple attack as a lunge or step forward) or backward (to get tempo for PiL).

So even if it was a simple attack by the right it is;

Right; attack, hesitation (or just attack no).
Left; takes up the action and scores.

(and since we are now into disclaimers; I have no credentials of any sort).

The Ref thing is not good -

The Fencing Game is cool...

I totally played as Germany and demolished everyone by beating the crap out of their blades. Just like the real deal, but when I beat Mr. Leon Paul (world's greatest fencer according to the game). I totally unlocked secret character, USA. I was hoping for Italy, or someone cool.

I found it hard to see the blade actions in a 2D, monocolor display. Also, any idiot who tries to do PIL from extension distance without tempo deserves to lose the touch.

o4aversob will become famous soon enough
Now I took another quiz, and it says that a lunge followed by another lunge immediately after is not a redoublement, but a riposte!!

Yea, that ThinkQuest game was lame. At the very least add a POW graphic for when the blades touch, otherwise, I don't see how anyone could determine whether or not there was any blade contact.

Rolls.

voi3ad is on a distinguished road
The Leon Paul game

We played that for days when I first came across it. It's cool how 2 players can use the same keyboard, but I just wish you could pick the other weapons.

Imagine if you could play first person view, with a fencing add-on similar to this golf thing: USB Virtual Golf Swing simulator
