There are several clubs throughout Broward, Dade and PB counties. Check either the USFA website or here on fencing.net (http://www.fencing101.com/search/Clubs/USA/Florida/).

The coach who used to be at Broward Community College has a club now at http://www.southfloridafencing.com

and Florida Atlantic University had a club but I can't say for sure they are still around since they have not updated the news on teh site since 2004 http://www.faufencingclub.com/fencing.html

also in Pompano there is the 3rd street fencing academy, http://thirdstreetfencing.tripod.com/

The only one I have any experience with is Bill Becker from South Florida Fencing, and it was probably 10 years ago, but he was a decent coach then and since he has managed to stay in business for the past 10 years I can only imagine he has gotten even better.

Wow. From the FAU site: FAU fencing founded in 2002....

FAU is the reason I switched from foil to epee, since back in 1998 there were 5 epeeists and none of anything else. Bob Cochrane was giving lessons (which explains the epee) and there was very little fencing to be had in South FL at all.

Bob used to also run the Palm Beach Fencing Club which was actually in Boynton Beach at the H.S. when last heard from. That is only a 30 minute drive from Oakland Park or Sunrise exits on the I-95.

I have also seen some people in Broward Community College sweats at some national competitions, so I assume there is something going on there. Though it seemed pretty dead in the late 90s also, and I have know idea which campus they practice at.

Good luck! I hope find some opponents!
