Array I have been fencing since I was almost ten, and I had my first competition in a novice event in december of that year, which was a y10. Becuase of my december birthday ( ) I aged out the next year. My first national was in april of the next year and it was a y12 nac (and y10 and y14) and I was only competitive from then on, so I counted myself as y12. I have been fencing for about 3 and a half years since then. -

Array i started in college...i wanted to start in 8th grade but i couldnt afford it so i had to wait -
I started in college, fenced for 2.5 years, then quit after graduating and moving. I started back up in 2004 and was better then when I quit (thanks to losing some of my bad habits). -
I was a little late on the start......
Like so many others I've wanted to try fencing since I was young, but money was always an issue.
I started fencing and college a couple years ago at 35....
I'm now 33.... With luck and hard work I hope to only get better.. -

(Vets) very true and I look forward to it.... the two people I spend most of my time fencing are nearing 60(each have about 20 yrs exp), but no matter how strong or fast I try to be, their smart fencing always prevails.... With luck and hard work I hope to only get better.. -

Obviously the solution is to go harder and faster then....

Array All I can say is that I wish I had started earlier. We should breed fencers from birth (or earlier ) "We now know that individuals engulfed in flames not only pose a danger to themselves, but to everyone else around them." --The Onion -

Array I burst out of my mother's uterus brandishing an epee! I WAS BORN TO FENCE! And win the hearts of women! Treat your mask like you treat your woman. Get inside her five times a day, take her to the piste and back! -
Remembering when I was fast... I fenced (foil & epee) for a couple of years in college BACK IN THE 70's, and then quit to earn a living and raise a family.
About 2 years ago, my middle Daughter (Mel) asked to go to a fencing camp during the summer. Since then I have been her designated driver and about 6 months ago I joined an adult begineers sabre class. Now I'm routinely thrashed by teenage girls. Much fun.
Regards,

If she didn't have an epidermal (or rather, an epidermis) she would have had worse problems than a C-section. Can you tell I'm nulliparous? "Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never . . . never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense." Churchill, 1941 -
