Greatest US. president - poll continuation #3

Hi!

The #2 poll, is now closed, with FDR and Reagan sharing the last place. Since FDR won over Reagan in the previous poll, and the winner, Lincoln, getting 28% of the vote, the runoff vote should continue at least one round more.

I will continue this "lesson" in runoff voting as long as the posts garner interest, and a winner (>50%) has not been found.

Have a nice time!

i picked washington this time (not revealing my previous choices).
why?

the people of the united states asked him to be their king.
he said nope, and set up the government we have today instead.

thats pretty damned great if you compare it to the money/power/etc. driven presidents we've had before.

That story tends to be exagerated. There WAS a movement to make Washington king, but it was by no means representative of the majority of the people. Remember, we were originally so scared of government that we created the "articles of confederation", which gave the central government almost NO power. We didn't plan on going from that to a complete monarchy.

BUT it is true that Washington was offered much more power than he accepted, so the purpose of the story is valid.

I voted George b/c historically nobody voted for him. But now I wish I had gone with Clinton.
