Array Hitting flat in epee Last night at my club I was fencing against this person shorter than me. I actually hit the person more times but they ended up beating me 5-3. 3 touches I got landed flat on the tip, not the blade and this would have made the difference. What can I do to curtail this. I think. Therefore...I am not a tar heel. -

Array Alot of Epeeist like to thrust/jab hard to the hand or arm. There is no need for that. Just extend and drop the point on the target and follow throught with an advance or small lunge. -

What do u mean? He wasn't actually helping you, he was just saying that you need to stick your point, i.e. land. -

Array Try to place your point on the target, fixing it on by pressing it on with your thumb/fingers should help. You should also remember that épée is the art of hitting without being hit yourself - don't stop just because you think you've scored; go for a remise, a redouble (successive hits), or just get out of the way ready for anything your opponent may throw back at you.
