Pathalogical Need for Sabre Hello!
I just started fencing in January (it's my PE credit here at college), always wanted to learn. I acutally started off grumbling about having to learn foil (I have wanted to learn sabre the minute I heard a description of it years ago), and that I didn't want to wait until Fencing II to learn sabre, since Fencing II is *never* offered. Well, our instructor decided to issue epees and sabres today! It seems to have been fated, since about 90% of time I hit someone in class with foil, its passe.
So the smallest girl in the class and I (probably the biggest, I'm 5'6'' and weigh something like 175 lbs...used to play hockey) then ran off to beat each other up. My thumb has a nastry bruise and I couldn't be happier. -

Array Careful...Saber is painfully addictive. Do not operate heavy machinery afterwards. -

Array Welcome to the sport, even if you seem to have joined the dark forces of sabre... -

Array Heh, you remind me of myself when I was just starting out, denn'bok! Looking for sabre and forever having those silly foils pushed under my nose...
Welcome aboard, you have chosen wisely! -

Array Welcome to fencing. But watch out, it does become addictive. It will end up taking all your money and time, but you'll have a wonderful time with it and meet great people, like Inq and ZZ above. -
thank you! Thank you, everyone who responded! It's nice to feel welcome!
I'll give a gold star to anyone who can tell me where my screen name comes from, and what it is. -

You didn't *exactly* answer the question, but you obviously know the answer.

Array Welcome to the jungle. It is fun. I think foil is a wonderful start to a stategical end. Maybe i am just a glutton for punishment, but that is my call. All and all welcome -

Array It's a lonely world in Sabre. I even had to fence Epee for a whole year owing to a shortage of sabreurs. Welcome.
BTW, picking up a foil every now and then never hurt anyone. -

Really? I'm pretty sure my picking up a foil has hurt a number of people...and I know that other people picking up a foil has hurt me.
Of course, today one of my rather large male friends hit me *hard* with his sabre a few times...that did hurt worse. -
