I'm not sure of this but I believe those, or maybe a variant, were worn by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill Vol. 1.

Yes, I found a website that called the yellow Onitsukas the "Kill Bill color version", so I'm sure they're the same. I haven't seen another low top Onitsuka in that color that wasn't a fencing shoe, but all their shoes come in a wide variety of colors, so it's hard to be sure.

the shoes in kill bill are the asics tai chi shoes, which basically went out of rotation when the movie was being made. asics made replacements (as per the ones above), but they're not the SAME shoes. just the same color.

Just checked the Urban Outfitter's website...

They have 3 fencing shoes listed...

The Adidas leather (brown), and the Asics in both the ugly colors...

It's not long now, soon people will start wearing fencing jackets out, and then fencing gloves. One can only hope that some will even adopt the mesh mask....

Tiger fencing shoes were the first purely 'fencing' shoes I ever bought. Sometime in the early '80s, they were mostly white with red and blue stripes and had a gum sole that really gripped wood floors! They certainly didn't have the support strength of Addias, BUT were sooo light!
