foil blade weight

Ok i like the way viniti foil blades act and they are a great price at
triplette. BUT they are tooo heavy.

I love the way BF blues act but of course they are prohibitively
expensive.

is it legal to sand off some of the forte region of a vniti fie blade
for use in tournament competition?

For the record I like really light stiff blades.

Magni

PS: Can someone recommend a nice light stiff CHEAP FIE blade?

Re: foil blade weight

Nope.

From the very first section of the material rules:

m.1 There are three types of weapon: foil, épée and saber.
All weapons are authorised providing only that they conform to these
regulations and to the safety standards which are appended.
The weapon should be so constructed that it cannot normally injure
either the user or his opponent. All methods of treating a blade between
the guard and the tip (button), by grinding, filing or other methods, are
forbidden.

I bought a couple of StM maraging blades a couple of years ago which I
specifically picked out of the stock for being stiff (as with all
blades, there's going to be a certain variation in stiffness from one to
another). I really like the feel of them, but they're prone to taking
kinks, and one broke after a much shorter time than I'm used to for
maraging blades. The Fencing Post sells them for a list price of $73
bare (less the 20% discount for internet orders). If you ask nicely, I
wouldn't be surprised if Saul would pick out some stiffer examples.
