    New Adidas 2000 Fencing Shoes

Just trying to get some opinions here on the the new adidas fencing shoes. What do you guys think about it? Some questions I have about it...

    1. Is it comfortable for vigouous footwork? (most sneakers get in the way of advancing because of their sharp heels)

    2. Is it light and snug like the old adistar fencing shoes?

    3. Does it wear out fast on copper pistes?

Sabrekid pretty well summed it up. They're a slight change in design philosophy from previous shoes, giving better support and cushioning at the cost of a bit more weight and a thicker sole. Once you get used to them, you'll probably find them more comfortable over the course of a full day of fencing. If you like the older, light-weight design then the other new Adidas model, the D'Artagnan, still adheres to that approach.

It does not worth 150 dollars. Besides, everyone is wearing it these days. So it is not that cool wearing one unless you want people to think that you are big on following the trend, esecially considering it only comes with one type of color scheme.
Many training shoes came out recently are perfect for fencing and only cost half of the price or less and look twice as good.

Ok, I have yet to try the new adidas shoes, mainly cause they are so damn expensive here in Oz, but I just found my new "perfect" shoe. Its a mens squash indoor court shoe put out by Asics (the people who do track shoes) Its slightly heavier then a track shoe being made primarly of leather, but you can still "feel" the floor through the sole. They are a gum arabic sole so last ages and are solid yet pliable on the foot, with just enough ankle support. There thats my rant.
Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls!

OK, WHAT ADIDAS FENCING SHOES?? The D'artagnans or the Equipments (the really ugly assymetrical ones)?

My personal favorite fencing shoes are the ADIDAS D'artagnan. They are really snug, and you get a total feel for the strip. I do, however, recommend getting Dr. Scholl's gel heel cup and gel ball-of-foot support. It makes it really really comfortable. It also absorbs the shock while fencing, so your feet don't hurt from getting blisters on the balls of your feet or the heels.

heh, i know my spelling is the worst on the entire board (except for saber dude) I'll try to watch my spelling a bit more... I do a lot of AIM and other types or IRC's so I am used to a lot of quick convo stuff. anyway, I didn't pay $150 for mine i got them on a special for $110 and I got them before they were well known of, only a dew ppl had them at the time, and I tried them on and was surprised at how nice they were, a little heavy but well worth it, since I teach 2-3 class's tue and thur I need a Comfortable shoe and this one works well

    better spelling?

    Chris

Watch out for the Equipment 2000's if you have flat feet.. I do, and those shoes just about killed me. I think they may be a bit narrower at the same size, than the normal adidas. The canted midsole in the back shoe altered my stance, and caused my calf and thigh to cramp...causing my lower back to cramp, plus made me put more weight on the front foot than normal, cramping my shin and quad on my front leg. I do think they're a better constructed shoe, of better materials than any of the other shoes out there.
Perhaps one of these days i'll get a pair in 9.5 instead of 9, and see about getting a pedorthist to level the rear midsole/set the shoes up for custom sport orthotics. Neat shoes, but I think maybe they may only be for people with good feet and joints. My old adidas or my new pbt's work out much better for me. If only adidas would sell a front left and a front right, as a pair.. I think I could get by with that. I really like the outsoles on the shoes.
    sigh.....

Angel, I bought them 2 weeks ago at athletes foot in Australia. I am assuming the number I quoted was a stock number but I could be wrong. They are a mens squash shoe. Hope this helps.

I saw them for the first time. They have a lot of extra unnecessary crap slapped onto the uppers than their past fencing shoes. At least they priced them lower than their Equipment line with those big black stripes.
