Array Fencing.net Tournament Ok, here we go: this is ripped off CvilleFencer's idea in the improvements thread, with his permission of course. What we'd like to do is have a fencing.net tournament, held at summer nationals since that's the event with the biggest turnout. I'm thinking that mixed foil, sabre and epee would be the best format, with a round of pools then 100% to DE's. Each event would be held on a day where the most fencers could make it, and would be self directed, making use of the empty strips at the beginning/end of the day.
There'd be no entry fee, because everything is provided at the venue and we're directing ourselves. It would be limited to registered fencing.net members, with pre-registration so the pools can be made up ahead of time. Also there wouldn't be any prize pool/medals unless people are willing to chip in money towards that, the idea is that it would be a fun tournament for bragging rights only.
So what do people think? Suggestions or comments? -

Array I'd certainly be interested... although I don't know if I'm too keen on all of you knowing just how bad a fencer I am... -

Array It would be amusing . . . but my own schedule aside, I'm not too sanguine about the prospect of having any strips available for a separate tournament. It's hard enough to find a strip to warm up on . Though we could do it late in the evening. Array I for one would love to go, but it's just a wee bit too far away for me to go... -

And Peach, i think it would have to be in the evening, when most events are winding down and the most strips are available. -

Since its for rep points, I had better train hard. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Epee, though, would be fun. Actually, it all would be fun. If I go to Summer Nationals, I'll do it.
(But, I don't plan on going unless I qualify in foil and epee in Division 2 and 3, and in U19. Which is unlikely. But if I get a C in epee, I'll go definately. That's unlikely, but not out of the question.) -

Array I would totally do it. Sign me up for sabre. -
Would you be required to have your online moniker on your lamé or on your non-weapon leg? -

anyway, yes, i will be very interested if i end up going to nationals.... however, i kind of have the feeling that, like last year, i'll mostly plan on going all year and then blatenly not.
