Array I got my tongue pierced! That's right. Kismet has a metal bar going through her tongue! I got it done today, and surprisingly, it really didn't hurt at all. Can't eat or talk very well right now though, but that will change within a few days. Ha, I love it, it is super cool! watermelon watermelon watermelon -

Array Interesting... you've got more guts than I have.
Were you apprehensive just before you got it done? Are there any special things you need to do to take care of it? -
Senior Member
Array Naw, wasn't really that nervous about it. I don't seem to get nervous about that kind of stuff, for some reason...
And as for care...I just have to rinse my mouth out with sea salts dissolved in warm water after every time I eat, and before I go to bed (so about 5-10 times a day depending on how many snacks I eat ). I am also sucking on a LOT of ice in hopes to keep the swelling down as much as posible.
It's so cool though. I love it! (Mom is not such a fan though!)
EDIT because I can't spell "rinse", apparently...

Hey, does the metal clack against your teeth? -
Senior Member
Array It has gotta be written in their contract! Seems to happen every time I do something even slightly risque...
And nope, it doesn't clack against my teeth, unless I make it. watermelon watermelon watermelon -

Array Well that's good - I could see something like that getting irritating - kind of like a broken bracket on braces.
Good luck with it - I hope it all goes smoothly for you! -
Senior Member
Array That's cool and all, but just out of curiosity, why your tongue? When it heals will it be odd to eat food? How quickly does it heal after you take out the bar?
Ouch..! -

Array cannnot imagine getting the tongue pierced. In general all the piercings, except for the ears, not that much a fan of it.
though, I think, with certain people, it does fit them.
Belly button piercings are awesome, provided you have the right belly for it. (which I definitely don't!) Now tongue piercings, they slightly irritate me, also when talking to the person. It always makes you want to look what's moving or shining there, where usually nothing's shining or moving....
but cool you did it....if it's something you want, and you can do it, you should...life's too short not to try out things you really want.
my mom had a fit when she first saw my tattoo. "Oh, that's for sailor men only" - generation conflict??? Beat it...Jab it...Stab it...FENCE IT!!! ***little t***Fiskebäckskil!*** Take me 2 YVR! -

If you feel comfy with it then good for you. I think it looks kind of cool (for some people) but wouldn't have the guts to do it myself.
I'll settle for getting my first ever tatto sometime this year instead.
Hope the swelling gets down soon! -

Array Zmurfs! Tats are so cool. I really want one as well, but if my mom is freaking out this much about a piece of metal that can be taken out, I don't think she would be too pleased if I came home one day with a permanent ink pattern on my body. Yeah. But you should do it...I think tats are awesome!
Pauli...what kind of tat and where is it?
onesandzeros, the thing about tongue piercings is that they heal really, really fast if you take the barbell out. I know someone who took hers out and it was completely grown over by the next day. Others it takes a bit longer, but for the most part tongues heal ridiculously fast, because they are a muscle. And once you first get it pierced, it only takes about 4 weeks to completely heal. Other piercings take up to 2-6 months or even a year to heal completely, depending on your body (my belly button took about 10 months or so to be completely healed) watermelon watermelon watermelon -

Array K's just getting bashed today. It's okay, I stil love you Kismet....
And Quentin has a word to say about this...
13. INT. LANCE'S HOUSE (KITCHEN) - NIGHT 13.
CU JODY
a woman who appears to have a fondness for earrings. Both of
her ears are pierced five times. She also sports rings in her
lips, eyebrows and nose.
JODY
...I'll lend it to you. It's a
great book on body piercing.
Jody, Vincent and a young woman names TRUDI sit at the kitchen
table of a suburban house in Echo Park. Even though Vince is
at the same table, he's not included in the conversation.
TRUDI
You know how they use that gun when
they pierce your ears? They don't
use that when they pierce your
nipples, do they?
JODY
Forget that gun. That gun goes
against the entire idea behind
piercing. All of my piercing,
sixteen places on my body, every
one of 'em done with a needle.
Five in each ear. One through the
nipple on my left breast. One
through my right nostril. One
through my left eyebrow. One
through my lip. One in my clit.
And I wear a stud in my tongue.
Vince has been letting this conversation go through one ear
and out the other, until that last remark.
VINCENT
(interrupting)
Excuse me, sorry to interrupt. I'm
curious, why would you get a stud
in your tongue?
Jody looks at him and says as if it were the most obvious
thing in the world.
JODY
It's a sex thing. It helps
fellatio.
That thought never occurred to Vincent, but he can't deny it
makes sense. Jody continues talking to Trudi, leaving Vincent
to ponder the truth of her statement.
LANCE (OS)
Vince, you can come in now! -

Array Kismet, hey, if it makes you happy, who cares what people on a message board say? I got my navel pierced four months ago (well...had it done sooner but I had to take it out for a show this summer) & I love it. I can't wear earrings because my ears are so sensitive, but my navel is doing very well!
Are you going to get the vibrating barbell? "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."
